Smartcards
Fares are 20% cheaper when you use a smartcard like Greencard or Transportme, where available.
Greencard
A Greencard can be loaded with travel credit so you don’t need to carry cash to catch the bus. You can save 20 per cent on normal fares, and transfer free within 90 minutes in some cases. Your urban travel fare will be capped at set amounts each day.
You can use a Greencard on services operated by:
Simply tap your card when you board the bus and the fare will be deducted from your card.
You can use the Metro Tasmania app to recharge your card or set an automatic top up.
Transportme
A Transportme card can be loaded with travel credit so you don’t need to carry cash to catch the bus. You can save 20 per cent on normal fares and record your concession eligibility.
Simply tap your card when you board the bus and the fare will be deducted from your card.
You can use a Transportme card and real time app on services operated by Kinetic, Calow's Coaches, Manions' Coaches and some school bus operators. Apply for a Transportme card by selecting your operator from the list below.
10-trip tickets
Where smartcards aren't available, you may be able to purchase a 10-trip ticket from the driver using cash to access the same 20% discount. To learn more, talk to your operator.
Cash
You can also use cash on all services. Your driver may have limited change, so try to have the correct amount ready.
