To achieve Tasmanian registration, you will need to;

  1. Have the vehicle inspected at an Approved Inspection Station (AIS). Where the vehicle passes the inspection, you will be provided with a passed inspection report.
  2. Once in possession of a passed inspection report, attend a Service Tasmania outlet to establish registration. You will need to provide Service Tasmania with the following.

Important:

  • Some imported vehicles require certification by an Approved Vehicle Certifier (AVC) to determine the vehicles compliance with relevant vehicle standards.
  • Left hand drive (LHD) vehicles, it is a regulatory requirement for LHD vehicles to be at least 30 years of age to be eligible for registration.
  • Please review the vehicles import approval as some vehicles may have conditions applied that prevent the vehicle from being eligible for registration.
