Requests for filming that impact on a State road will not be supported by the Department if they:

  • compromise the safety of road users and there is a risk or unnecessary disturbance to the public
  • cause a major disruption to traffic flow or will disrupt traffic for an extended period of time
  • cause a major disruption to public transport operations or access for an extended period of time
  • risk damaging road infrastructure
  • affect current road projects
  • lack sufficient supporting information
  • are not considered to be in the public interest.

It is recommended that permit holders obtain adequate public liability insurance coverage. State Growth accepts no responsibility for any personal injury, damage or loss in any way arising during the filming on a State road.

Time restrictions on State Roads

There are time restrictions on planned works and activities on State roads, to help make sure traffic can flow smoothly when traffic volumes are highest.

More information can be found on the Time restrictions on State Roads for works, temporary traffic management and events webpage.

Applications

Applications must be received by the Department of State Growth at least 20 business days before your expected start date for filming, to allow enough time to assess your application.

Where applications are submitted less than five business days before the intended start date for works, applicants may be asked to nominate a new start date that allows enough time to assess the application before the assessment process starts.
