The extent of the State Road network is defined by Tasmanian Road Information Positioning System (TRIPS). It is used to describe the State Road network and to locate road and bridge assets and other features on it.
The Department uses a combination of linear and other spatial referencing methods for everyday road maintenance, condition surveys and strategic asset management.
