Standardised bridge superstructure design

The standard design will enable a cost-effective solution to be produced by the Tasmanian precast industry. This will make the design process more efficient, and make it easier to provide a timely response after an emergency.

The design may also be adopted for use in suitable bridge replacements undertaken by Tasmanian infrastructure owners.

A Design Guide, which includes information about the process of designing, constructing and maintaining a bridge that includes a standardised rectangular plank superstructure was also developed.

Note: The Standardised Plank Design is limited to the bridge superstructure. A site specific design is required for the substructure (abutments, columns/walls, or footings/piles).
