About the project
We will be developing a design to improve the quality of the road base on an 800-metre section of the Bass Highway, between the Wilkinson Street/Oldina Road intersection and the Deep Creek Road intersection.
Timing
We are currently developing a design for this pavement rehabilitation work. At this stage, there is no funding available to progress this project from design to construction. If funding can be gained for the construction of this project, we will be in contact with landowners in this section of the Bass Highway to discuss road access and driveway impacts during construction. There will be no land acquisition for this project.

This project is funded by the Freight Capacity Upgrade Program (FCUP).
About the Freight Capacity Upgrade Program
These works are being completed as part of the Tasmanian Government’s Freight Capacity Upgrade Program (FCUP).
FCUP supports the productivity of freight vehicles by improving the roads and bridges they travel on day to day.
Repairing and strengthening these sections of road will:
- improve freight productivity
- improve efficiency and network reliability
- improve road safety for all road users
- reduce maintenance costs.
