About the project

We plan to upgrade the Bass Highway, west of Yanns Road in Rocky Cape.

This project includes road widening, alignment and junction improvements and the installation of two new bus stops (one in each direction).

Widening the Bass Highway at this location will help to improve highway curves to ensure they meet today’s standards and provide additional space for vehicles travelling on this section of highway.

As part of this project, the junction of Yanns Road will also be widened to accommodate the widening of the Yanns Road Bridge, which was completed by Circular Head Council.

This project forms part of a larger project to upgrade multiple sections along the Bass Highway from Wynyard to Marrawah so road users reach their destinations more safely and efficiently.

Timing

The project is currently in the detailed design phase, with construction expected to begin in late 2025.
