About the project

The Bass Highway North of Sassafras project is being delivered as part of the Bass Highway Devonport to Launceston Corridor Strategy to improve safety and efficiency on the Bass Highway.

The existing road will be widened to include construction of a flexible median safety barrier to separate opposing traffic, which will:

  • increase safety for road users, including a reduced risk of head-on crashes and provide an opportunity for safe overtaking
  • improve efficiency and travel time reliability.

Timing

We have finalised a concept design for the project. The design has been informed by feedback collected from property owners and other key stakeholders.

Community consultation is now complete

Public consultation for the project is now closed. Thank you to everyone who provided feedback.

Feedback collected during this period will be considered as we develop a detailed design.
