About the project

We will be resurfacing Cradle Mountain Road between the Cradle Mountain Interpretation Centre and Dove Lake.

Timing

We are going to complete patching work on two small sections of Cradle Mountain Road near the Cradle Mountain Interpretation Centre. This work is planned to be done on Tuesday, 9 June 2026, weather permitting.

Traffic changes

We will be working on Tuesday, 9 June 2026, weather permitting. Work will take place between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm.

There is no requirement for the road to be closed for this work, and the shuttle bus service will follow its regular timetable.

Traffic management will be set up around the patching sites. A reduced speed limit will be in place to ensure the safety of workers on the road. There will be short delays of around five minutes during this work, depending on when you are travelling through the site.

Information about vehicle access and the shuttle bus schedule is available on the Parks and Wildlife Service website here.

Accessing Dove Lake on foot

Visitors can still access Dove Lake when the work is taking place by walking along the Cradle Valley boardwalk and Lake Lilla track. This walking route begins at the Interpretation Centre and ends at Dove Lake. Please note that the average time to walk this route is usually two to three hours.
