About the project

A lowered speed limit has been in place at the Forth Road underpass at the Bass Highway off-ramp near Ulverstone following damage to the barrier in November 2024,

We will replace and upgrade the barrier and improve the ongoing safety of the road for all users.

This project will focus on the southern barrier of the underpass which is located on the Bass Highway. The off-ramp heading towards Ulverstone will need to be closed during the works to allow the upgrade works to be completed safely.

Timing

We are starting work on Tuesday, 10 June 2025 and plan to finish the project by Friday, 4 July 2025.

During this project, we will be working from Monday to Friday, between 9:30 am and 3:00 pm during the day, and there may also be night work between 6:00 pm to 7:30 am.

Off-ramp closure

During this work the Forth Road off-ramp heading towards Ulverstone will be closed.

There will also be a lowered speed limit in place while we work.

A detour will be in place for traffic heading into the Ulverstone industrial estate.

Detours

  1. Road users will need to detour via the Bass Highway off-ramp to Castra Road, left on to Castra Road and right on to Production Drive.
  2. Road users can also detour via the Bass Highway Off Ramp to Westella Road, Westella Drive, and Eastland Drive.

Please allow about 15 minutes extra travel time when travelling through this area. For everyone’s safety, please follow the speed limit and the directions of traffic controllers.

The work will involve the use of machinery which may generate some noise. We will make every effort to minimise noise by completing noisier activities during the day.
