About the project

We will be repairing and strengthening Leslie Station Creek Bridge on the Murchison Highway.

Timing

We will be working between Monday, 2 February 2026 and Tuesday, 31 March 2026, weather permitting.

We will be working underneath the bridge between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday to Friday.

The project involves the application of strengthening materials that require lower vibrations from vehicles crossing the bridge.

Lowered speed limit

The speed limit through the project site will be reduced to 40 km/hr during work hours, however, after application of the strengthening materials, the speed limit over the bridge itself will be reduced to 20 km/hr at all times.

The success of the project is dependent on road users adhering to the speed limit while the strengthening materials do their job, even outside work hours.

  • improve efficiency and network reliability
  • improve road safety for all road users
  • reduce maintenance costs.

Funding

The Australian and Tasmanian Governments have committed combined funding of $100 million towards the FCUP program.
