We are upgrading safety barriers to make roads safer for everyone.
About the project
We will be upgrading the safety barriers on both the Cooee-bound and Wivenhoe-bound rail underpasses on the Bass Highway, between Edwardes Street and Wilson Street, Burnie.
Timing
The first stage of construction will begin on Monday, 20 April 2026 and is expected to be complete by Friday, 1 May 2026. To avoid peak travel times, work will take place between 9:00 am and 3:30 pm.
While work is taking place, there will be a reduced speed limit and frequent lane closures.
