Oakleigh Rail Underpass Barrier Upgrades
We are upgrading safety barriers to make roads safer for everyone.
About the project
We will be upgrading the safety barriers on both the Cooee-bound and Wivenhoe-bound rail underpasses on the Bass Highway, between Edwardes Street and Wilson Street, Burnie.
Timing
We will be carrying out some preliminary work from Monday, 18 May 2026 to Friday, 22 May 2026. To avoid peak travel times, we will be working at night from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am.
While work is taking place, there will be a reduced speed limit and frequent lane closures through the work site.

This project is funded by the Australian Government for approximately $1.5 million.
