Oakleigh Rail Underpass Barrier Upgrades
We are upgrading safety barriers to make roads safer for everyone.
About the project
We will be upgrading the safety barriers on both the Cooee-bound and Wivenhoe-bound rail underpasses on the Bass Highway, between Edwardes Street and Wilson Street, Burnie.
Timing and traffic impacts
The barrier upgrades have been ongoing since early 2026. We will be carrying out the next stage of upgrades between 9:00 am and 3:30 pm, from Monday, 3 August to Friday, 21 August 2026, weather permitting.
Lane closures and a reduced speed limit will be in place during working hours. Normal speed limits will remain in place outside of working hours.
Please allow up to 15 minutes extra travel time, keep to speed limits and follow the directions of traffic controllers and signs.
