Oakleigh Rail Underpass Barrier Upgrades
We are upgrading safety barriers to make roads safer for everyone.
We completed assessments at this site and found that the existing barriers should be replaced with barriers that are up to current standards.
About the project
We will be upgrading the safety barriers on both the Burnie-bound and Wivenhoe-bound rail underpasses on the Bass Highway, between Edwardes Street and Wilson Street, Burnie.
Timing
A tender for construction was advertised in November 2025 and will close on 10 December 2025.
Construction is expected to start in early 2026, and work is expected to be completed by mid-2026.

This project is funded by the Australian Government for approximately $1.5 million.
