About the project
We are improving the intersection at Ecclestone Road and the West Tamar Highway and will be building a new refuge island and slip lane with a raised pedestrian crossing for the left turn out of Windsor Drive.
The existing refuge island and slip lane will remain at the intersection while we add a raised pedestrian crossing for the left turn into Ecclestone Road.
The project includes the addition of a one stage pedestrian crossing across the West Tamar Highway. An additional right turn opportunity has also been added for traffic turning right out of Ecclestone Road.
Timing
The design is being finalised, and construction is expected to begin in 2027.
Funding
The project forms part of the Australian and Tasmanian governments’ $22.5 million commitment to targeted upgrades along the West Tamar Highway between Exeter and Launceston.
