Frankford Road Upgrades

About the project

Widening and sealing shoulders provides a safe and efficient road and allows additional space for drivers to regain control, reducing road crashes.

Upgrades are planned for Frankford Road, Birralee Road to Stony Brook, Exeter (design).

Timing

Designs are continuing for Frankford Road from Birralee Road to Stony Brook, Exeter, with construction to follow the completion of Birralee Road upgrades.

Current situation

The preliminary road design of the eastern portion of Frankford Road from Birralee Road to Stony Brook, Exeter, is ongoing, with construction expected to follow the completion of Birralee Road.

Community consultation

We want to engage with the communities surrounding the second section of Birralee Road and Frankford Road about the project.

We are in the early stages of design for these sections of road, and this gives us the opportunity to connect with landowners and hear their local knowledge to help inform the design process.

About the Northern Roads Package

Northern Roads Package stage one is a series of road upgrades including road widening, shoulder sealing, and surface upgrades, planned for key interregional freight linkages through the Batman Highway, Birralee Road, and Frankford Road.

Upgrades are planned in the following locations:

• Batman Highway, east of Batman Bridge (complete)
• Batman Highway, west of Batman Bridge (underway)
• Birralee Road, Roxford Avenue to Brushy Rivulet (underway
• Birralee Road, Brushy Rivulet to Frankford Road (design)
• Frankford Road, Birralee Road to Stony Brook, Exeter (design)
