West Tamar Highway - Trevallyn to Riverside Upgrades
We are investigating ideas for improvements along the West Tamar Highway between Trevallyn and Riverside.
The department is further investigating options to improve the safety and efficiency of the West Tamar Highway for all road users between Trevallyn and Riverside.
The following areas have been identified as of interest and options to improve these will be investigated:
Once the investigations are complete, the department will use the information gathered to prepare concept designs which will be shared with the community for feedback.
The department will be carrying out investigation works along the West Tamar Highway between the southern intersection of Forest Road/West Tamar Highway to Windsor Park from August 2023 to October 2023.
The investigation works will include site walks of public areas located along the West Tamar Highway corridor.
An engineering survey for the Ecclestone Road and West Tamar Highway intersection will also be taking place. Traffic counts will also be captured at the intersection of Forest Road (southern intersection)/West Tamar Highway. These works are not expected to impact road users, residents, and access to public footpaths or driveways.
Information collected from these investigations will be used to inform the traffic assessment, concept design along the corridor, and detailed design of the Ecclestone Road and West Tamar Highway intersection upgrades.

The proposed project upgrades are funded from the $84 million commitment by the Tasmanian Government for the East and West Tamar Highway Upgrades.
