About the project

We are further investigating options to improve the safety and efficiency of the West Tamar Highway for all road users between Trevallyn and Riverside.

The following areas have been identified, and improvements are being investigated:

  • Duplication of the single lane section of the West Tamar Highway between 101 West Tamar Highway, Trevallyn and the intersection of Forest Road (north)/West Tamar Highway, locally known as Barnes Hill.
  • Improvements to pedestrian crossing facilities at the Ecclestone Road/West Tamar Highway intersection.
  • Improvements to turning facilities and line-marking at the Riverview Road/West Tamar Highway intersection.
  • Improvement to sight distances at the Forest Road (north)/West Tamar Highway intersection.
  • Converting the existing give-way T-junction at the intersection of Forest Road (south) /West Tamar Highway to traffic signals for improved safety and pedestrian connectivity.
  • Building a shared user path between Tailrace Park and the Windsor Community Precinct.
  • Improvements to the signalised pedestrian crossing at the Orana Place/West Tamar Highway intersection.
  • Provision of a signalised pedestrian crossing at Brownfield Lane/West Tamar Highway intersection.
  • Pedestrian crossing upgrades at Allawah Street/West Tamar Highway intersection (southbound).
