About the project
We will be repairing and strengthening a section of the Brooker Highway, in the northbound lanes between the Domain Highway interchange and Risdon Road in New Town.
Timing
We will be working from Sunday, 11 January 2026 to Friday, 6 February 2026.
Work will take place during the night between 7:00 pm and 6:00 am.
The speed will be reduced to 60 kmph at all times during this project. Please allow up to 15 minutes extra travel time.

About the Freight Capacity Upgrade Program
These works are being completed as part of the Tasmanian Government’s Freight Capacity Upgrade Program (FCUP).
FCUP supports the productivity of freight vehicles by improving the roads and bridges they travel on day to day. Repairing and strengthening these sections of road will:
- improve freight productivity
- improve efficiency and network reliability
- improve road safety for all road users
- reduce maintenance costs.
