About the project
We are repairing and strengthening two areas of the Huon Highway, east of Leslie Vale.
As part of this work, we will be installing new pipes to ensure sufficient drainage and improve the long-term condition of the road.
- Stage 1 will take place in Kingston, between the Southern Outlet and Summerleas Road interchanges.
- Stage 2 will take place in Leslie Vale, east of Leslie Vale Road.
Timing
Working hours and impacts:
Stage 1 Summerleas Road to the Southern Outlet, Kingston bound:
9:30 am and 6:00 pm. Lane closures during working hours only, and a reduced speed limit will inside and outside of working hours.
Stage 2, near Leslie Road (Both directions):
7:00 am and 6:00 pm. Lane closures and a reduced speed limit will be in place inside and outside of working hours.

About the Freight Capacity Upgrade Program
The Australian and Tasmanian Governments have committed combined funding of $100 million to upgrade key freight routes under the Tasmanian Government’s Freight Capacity Upgrade Program (FCUP).
These works are being completed as part of FCUP, jointly funded by the Australian and Tasmanian governments.
FCUP supports the productivity of freight vehicles by improving the roads and bridges they travel on day to day. Repairing and strengthening these sections of road will:
- improve freight productivity
- improve efficiency and network reliability
- improve road safety for all road users
- reduce maintenance costs.
Funding
The Australian and Tasmanian Governments have committed combined funding of $100 million towards the FCUP program.
