Macquarie Point Northern Access Road

We are leading the planning and design for the Northern Access Road, a key infrastructure corridor supporting future transport connectivity to the Macquarie Point Development Precinct.
The Northern Access Road will provide an alternative route for heavy vehicles to access the Port of Hobart and will support developments in the Macquarie Point Precinct and Regatta Point foreshore area.
The new road will link the Tasman Highway with the Macquarie Point Precinct and includes an event bus plaza that will service the proposed Multipurpose Stadium.
A northern entry into the Port of Hobart will ease the pressure on the surrounding road network, enhance connectivity and provide more opportunity for land use and investment within Macquarie Point.
Construction is expected to start in the second half of 2026.
Site investigations to inform the concept designs were done in late October and early November 2025.
We have been working closely with transport specialists from Jacobs and key stakeholders to consider a range of options that best meet the needs of everyone who uses the Macquarie Point precinct.
We’re now seeking feedback from the community to help us develop a recommended detailed design.
