Safety Barrier Upgrades
We are upgrading safety barriers on three regional roads in Southern Tasmania to improve safety for all road users.
About the project
We will be upgrading safety barriers along Gordon River Road, Nubeena Road, and Colebrook Road (which turns into Mud Walls Road).
The barriers will be upgraded or installed at three sites on Gordon River Road, six sites on Nubeena Road, and six sites on Colebrook Road / Mud Walls Road.
These sites were identified based on technical advice and past crash history. The upgrades will ensure the barriers are brought up to the current Australian standard.
Timing
We completed upgrades to Nubeena Road in October 2026.
We have started work on Gordon River Road and work is expected to be complete in November 2026.
We expect to start work on Colebrook Road in late November 2026.
During work there will be a reduced speed limit and a partial lane closure.

This project is funded by the Australian Government for approximately $1.14 million through the Black Spot Program.
