About the project

The Brinktop Road and Tasman Highway junction is being improved to make it safer and easier for everyone to use.

This upgrade is part of Tasmania’s Towards Zero road‑safety program, which aims to reduce serious crashes on our roads.

People using this junction have told us that turning right from Brinktop Road can feel difficult, especially as the area continues to grow. To make the intersection safer and more predictable, we will be upgrading the turning area to give drivers more space and clearer separation from highway traffic. Lighting at the junction will also be improved so the area is easier to see at night.

These changes will help create a safer and more comfortable driving experience for everyone who travels through this part of the Tasman Highway.

The project is currently in the design phase; we will update you once we know more

Funding

This project is fully funded through $1.4 million from the Tasmanian Road Safety Levy.

The Levy supports priority road safety initiatives across the State, focusing on projects that can deliver the greatest reduction in serious injuries and fatalities. Funding for this project covers both design and construction to ensure delivery aligns with the Towards Zero – Tasmanian Road Safety Strategy and the Towards Zero Action Plan.
