The Tasmanian Government’s Greater Hobart Rapid Bus Network Strategic Business Case has been released.

The business case is the first significant step to securing funding to deliver the rapid bus network in stages over the coming 10-15 years.

A rapid bus network would encompass three routes through Hobart’s northern, southern and eastern suburbs, using dedicated infrastructure such as lanes and stations, with frequent and reliable operations passing through the Hobart CBD.

The next step will be to develop a detailed business case for stage one of the rapid bus network through the northern suburbs, including a section of the old railway corridor.

No decisions have been made on exact routes or station locations as yet and this will be part of the considerations for the detailed business case.
