The Tasmanian Government has assumed a caretaker role ahead of the election for the Tasmanian House of Assembly. It is important during this time that Tasmanian Government resources are not used to communicate political material. As such, no political or election material will be placed on this site.

View the HML Network Map

This network shows roads mapped in three categories: Approved (green), Conditionally Approved (orange) and Restricted (red).  Click on a route or bridge to show any conditions that apply.  Tasmania's HML network does not allow access for:

  • Truck and Dog trailer combinations - this is provided via ‘Increased Mass Limit (IML)’ network,
  • Approved Performance-Based Standards (PBS) combinations unless the road also appears on the applicable PBS network map for the combination, in which case the Tier 1 Bridge assessment HML masses are applicable.
  • B-doubles that exceed 21.0 metres1 unless the road also appears on the 23m or 26m B-double network map.

Restricted structures (red dots) must not be crossed.

Roads not shown as approved (green) or conditionally approved (orange) require road manager approval for access by permit.  Application for access by permit is to be made through the NHVR. It is permitted to travel off route if the road is marked with detour signage or if directed by an authorised officer.

Operators must check for road closures and road conditions prior to travel to ensure clear passage.  For roads managed by Department of State Growth this information is available on the Department of State Growth website and by selecting the “show state growth road works” button on this map.
