Training and enrolling
The AIS Administration Team provides training to Proprietors and Vehicle Examiners on a regular basis and are strongly encouraged to attend to keep themselves conversant with AIS matters including vehicle inspections.
Training provided are as follows:
Compulsory Vehicle Examiner Training
AIS Proprietors and Vehicle Examiners are required to complete training on various AIS and vehicle standard related matters on a regular basis or upon request.
If a Proprietor does not complete any compulsory training, their AIS may be placed on hold.
If a Vehicle Examiner does not complete any compulsory training, their authority to conduct vehicle inspections on behalf of the Registrar of Motor Vehicles may be placed on hold.

Vehicle Examiner knowledge course

AIS Proprietor knowledge course
This course is administered by the Department of State Growth. Before being enrolled into this course, the person nominating to become Proprietor must complete an AIS change of conditions form (if already an AIS) or an Expression of Interest in becoming a light vehicle AIS form (if wanting to become and AIS).
Once the AIS Administration Team receive a completed form, the person nominating to become Proprietor will be enrolled into the AIS Proprietor knowledge course and will receive an email to that effect. New Proprietor forms will only be processed after successful completion of this course.
Voluntary Vehicle Examiner and AIS Proprietor Training
The AIS Administration Team conducts 2 hour refresher training sessions for Vehicle Examiners, in various locations state-wide throughout the year. Bookings are essential.
