Our annual maintenance and repair program this spring will cover 84 sites across the State Road Network.

Sixteen of these sites will focus on approximately 16 km on the Bass Highway, including these locations:

  • Elizabeth Town
  • Carrick
  • Devonport
  • Turners Beach
  • Lillico
  • Ulverstone
  • Penguin
  • Chasm Creek
  • Heybridge.

In addition to the resurfacing program, we will be carrying out our routine spring maintenance across the State Road Network.

Getting ready during winter

During winter, maintenance crews completed hundreds of temporary pothole repairs to keep roads safe until weather conditions allowed for a more durable fix.

With warmer weather arriving, contractors have returned to complete longer-term patching repairs.

Other regular spring maintenance activities include mowing, clearing drains, and trimming trees.

Add some extra travel time

With a significant season of roadwork on the way, please allow some extra travel time. An extra 15 minutes when travelling through a resurfacing site, and 5-10 minutes for less impactful maintenance work such as mowing, is a good general guide.

Remember to slow down in work zones, follow the directions of traffic controllers and signage, and keep to the posted speed limits to help keep road workers and other road users safe.

Stay up-to-date

Check on traffic impacts by visiting the Roadworks Map (www.transport.tas.gov.au/roadworks) or the RoadsTas Facebook page (www.facebook.com/roadsTAS/).

While Building Tasmania’s contractors regularly inspect all State Roads, road users are encouraged to report hazards or maintenance issues on the State Road Network via our 24/7 hotline on 1300 139 933.
