Departmental driving assessment bookings

Driving assessments bookings will open to the general public

Important information about COVID-19 health and safety practices to keep you and our staff safe

You MUST disclose if you:

  • are feeling unwell
  • have been in contact with someone who has COVID 19 in the last 14 days
  • should be self-isolating or are living with people who are required to self-isolate.

Current safety practices for an assessment:

  • You MUST wear a mask. Masks will be provided by the Department of State Growth
  • You MUST use the hand sanitiser stations and adhere to social distancing requirements at all times when outside the vehicle
  • Your vehicle MUST be of a high standard of cleanliness
  • Your vehicle will be sanitised prior to the start of your assessment
  • Only bring your supervisory driver with you, others will be turned away
  • We encourage you to have the COVIDSafe government app active on your phone
  • We cannot proceed if we believe you are sick or unwilling to comply with the safety practices.

P1 bookings can be made online here.

All other assessment type bookings can be made at Service Tasmania. We are not taking bookings that require an interpreter at this time. Further information will be made available shortly.

If you have had a refund you will need to pay the driving assessment fee again.

Booking a Driving Assessment with a Non-Government Assessor

Find out how to book an assessment with an P1 authorised driving assessor.

How do I book an assessment with a non-government assessor?

You need to book directly with a P1 Authorised Driving Assessor.

Your assessor might also be able to supply a car for your assessment. Make sure you discuss these details, as well as fees, with your assessor when you’re booking your assessment.

For your assessment, make sure you bring your L2 drivers licence.

What are P1 Authorised Driving Assessors?

We’re currently piloting the use of P1 Authorised Driving Assessors who you can take your P1 driving assessment with. P1 Authorised driving Assessors assess to the same standard and under the conditions as government assessors but may also provide you with a vehicle for your assessment as well as a car familiarisation session prior to your assessment.
