What restrictions apply to me as a P1 motorcycle rider?
On your P1 motorcycle licence you must:
- carry your licence
- only ride a LAMS motorcycle
- clearly display a red on white P-plate on the rear of your motorcycle
- have a zero blood alcohol content while riding
- sit astride the seat and face forwards
- have at least one hand on the handlebars
- have your feet on the footrests (unless the motorcycle is stopped)
- wear an approved motorcycle helmet
- don’t ride more than two abreast within one lane
- don’t ride over the speed limit, or faster than 80 km/h at any time, even when a higher speed limit applies
- don’t lane filter
- don’t carry a pillion passenger.
