You can renew at any time (even if your licence is current) but we’ll send you a reminder notice approximately 4-6 weeks before your licence is due to expire.
To pay by BPAY you’ll need to use your bank's online or phone banking services and provide the biller code and payment reference number listed on your renewal. Paying by BPAY means you don’t need to go to Service Tasmania, a new card will be posted with the same photo and signature after payment has been received. You can declare any new medical conditions.
To pay at Service Tasmania you'll need to:
- bring your licence or evidence of identity
- have your photo taken
- complete a renewal notice, and
- pay a fee.
If you are eligible for a concession, you’ll need to complete an application for a concession. In some circumstances, you may also need to provide a medical certificate or report.
If your licence has expired for more than five years, you’ll have to apply for a learner licence again.
