Purpose of the Group

The purpose of the the Group is to improve the user experience of public transport by reducing barriers and providing safe, accessible services for all.

Group members will identify current or emerging issues likely to affect people with access barriers and recommend key priorities and opportunities to improve the public transport user experience.

The Department of State Growth is convening the Group beause it contracts public transport services on behalf of Tasmania. These services must meet the needs of as many people as possible and offer an attractive alternative to personal vehicles.

Membership

Nominations have now closed, and successful applicants have been notified.

Group members

• have an interest in improving public transport accessibility in Tasmania
• can able to represent the perspectives of people facing accessibility issues in Tasmania, which may include .
  • people with disability
  • older people
  • parent or carers
  • young people
• have no conflict of interest with the work of the Group
• can work constructively with State Growth to improve public transport accessibility
• support a safe environment in which all members to have the opportunity to raise discussion points.
