1. What are electronic vehicle registration renewal notices?
Electronic renewal notices are digital versions of your vehicle registration renewal reminder. Instead of receiving a paper notice in the mail, your reminder is delivered to you through your myServiceTas account as an ‘invitation to renew’.
2. Why am I no longer receiving my registration renewal notice in the mail?
If you have a myServiceTas account and have linked the Driver Licence and Vehicle Registrations service, your registration renewal notice will now be delivered electronically through the myServiceTas instead of a paper copy being posted to your mailing address.
Digital delivery is faster, more secure and allows you to access your renewal notice at any time online.
Customers who do not have a myServiceTas account, or who have not linked the Driver Licence and Vehicle Registrations service to their account will continue to receive renewal notices by post.
3. Why is Transport Tasmania moving away from paper notices?
Customer preferences about the way government communicates information are changing. Many prefer the convenience including the ability to receive and read information on a device, wherever they are.
We recognise this. We’ve worked with Service Tasmania to use the myServiceTas portal as the delivery tool for vehicle registration renewal notices for those people who want to interact with government via a digital platform.
4. Where can I find my renewal notice in the myServiceTas portal?
Log in to myServiceTas and go to your inbox.
Your invitation to renew your registration will appear there once it has been issued.
If you renew your registration using myServiceTas, the expiry date will update instantly, and you will receive your new registration papers and an itemised receipt to your inbox.
5. Will I still get a reminder by SMS or email?
Yes.
myServiceTas will send you an alert by SMS or email when your invitation to renew is available in your myServiceTas account and, if you have the myServiceTas app, you will also get a notification on your phone.
If you haven’t paid your registration by the due date, we will send you an SMS to remind you.
6. What if I don’t have a myServiceTas account?
If you don’t have a myServiceTas account, or have not linked the Driver Licence and Vehicle Registrations service, a paper renewal notice will continue to be sent by post.
You can create a myServiceTas account for free at any time. For more information - https://www.service.tas.gov.au/myservicetas
Or you can download the myServiceTas app. https://www.service.tas.gov.au/myservicetas/mobile-app
7. How do I link the Driver Licence and Vehicle Registration service to my myServiceTas account?
After you log in, select Add a registration and follow the prompts.
You will need to confirm details such as your name, date of birth driver licence number or registration number.
Once you are linked, the vehicles registered to you will be visible.
If the information does not match our records, you may be asked to contact us for assistance.
8. How are electronic renewal notices delivered if there are two operators (Joint) on the registration?
For vehicles with joint registered operators, the electronic renewal notice will be delivered to each registered operator who has a myServiceTas account linked to the Driver Licence and Vehicle Registrations service. Each registered operator will receive an alert when the renewal notice is available.
9. What if only one registered operator has a myServiceTas account for a joint registered vehicle?
An electronic renewal notice will be delivered to the registered operator with the myServiceTas account linked to the Driver Licence and Vehicle Registrations service.
If the first‑named operator does not have a myServiceTas account linked to our service, they will continue to receive a paper copy by post.
10. What if I prefer to keep receiving paper notices?
Customers without a myServiceTas account, or those with an account that is not linked to the Driver Licence and Vehicle Registrations service, will continue to receive a paper renewal notice by post.
11. How long will my renewal notice stay in myServiceTas?
You control your documents in your myServiceTas inbox. You can delete the documents when you choose. Documents are set to be archived after 12 months. You can log in at any time to review your notice.
12. I pay by direct debit, will I still receive my renewal?
Yes. If you have a myServiceTas account linked to the Driver Licence and Vehicle Registrations service, the renewal notice will be sent to your inbox. If you don’t, you will still receive a paper renewal notice by post.
13. Can an organisation get electronic renewal notices via myServiceTas?
myServiceTas is currently only available to individuals.
BPay View is available for organisations to obtain registration notices electronically.
