If you want to undertake telecommunication works in the State road reservation you may have to notify the Department of State Growth prior to doing so. Notification requirements are set out in the Telecommunications Act 1997 and other related codes and regulations.

There are time restrictions on planned works on State roads major commuting routes, to help make sure traffic at peak times isn’t impacted by roadworks.

Traffic control at work sites may be required to maintain a safe workplace for workers and to safely guide road users through work sites.

Notification is only for carrying out works within the State road reservation. If the State road reservation boundary is not clearly defined, for example by fencing, you may need to notify other landowners or authorities.
The Department may object to the activity in accordance with the process set out by the Telecommunications Code of Practice 2021.
