About the project

We have constructed a new park and ride facility between Fenton Street and the Tasman Highway, Midway Point.

We also completed landscaping work next to the Midway Point Tavern, on the corner of Penna Road and the Tasman Highway, Midway Point.

The park and ride facility offers commuters free parking and access to future express bus services into Hobart’s CBD, with connections to active transport routes for walking, wheeling or riding.

Park and ride facilities provide opportunities for public transport users to cycle, walk, or travel by car to a facility with dedicated commuter parking close to key bus routes. Local shared user paths will also connect to the facility.

Secure bicycle storage is available at the Midway Point park and ride, along with:

  • five motorcycle spaces
  • two accessible car spaces
  • 59 car spaces
  • 61 standard car spaces in total.

All-weather bus shelters have been constructed as part of the development at the existing bus stop on Penna Road and Hobart-bound bus stop on the Tasman Highway.
