This project improved five kilometres of the Midland Highway, starting from two kilometres south of York Plains Road and continuing to the St Peters Pass rest area.

The road has been widened to provide four kilometres of new passing lanes, and a central flexible safety barrier has been installed to prevent head-on collisions.

During the project we reduced roadside hazards, added a heavy vehicle turning facility on York Plains Road, extended sealed road shoulders and landscaped the area.

Works began in March 2018 and were completed in mid-2019.
