Which modifications need to be inspected and certified?

Modifications will need to be inspected and certified at an AVCAIS if it changes:

• The performance of the vehicle
• The vehicle in a way that makes it no longer comply with Australian Vehicle Standards

You will find information on Australian Vehicle Standards-and when modifications are not required:

• For heavy vehicles (over 4.5t Gross Vehicle Mass) as administered by the NHVR :
  • NHVR Heavy vehicle modifications
  • NHVR Vehicle Standards Bulletin 6 (VSB6)
• For  light vehicles:
  • Vehicle Standards Bulletin 14 (VSB 14)
