How to register a vehicle with standard registration
- Have the vehicle inspected.
AA Inspection, at an Approved Inspection Station (AIS). You can find a map of AIS locations here. Interstate inspection reports are not accepted.
- Visit Service Tasmania with:
Identification
For individuals:
- Tasmanian Driver Licence, or Evidence of identity (EOI) for intended registered operators.
- Agent Authority (if applicable)
For Company, Incorporated Association, Co-operative/Mutual Enterprise:
- Customer ID Number or Evidence of identity, and
- Agent authority
If you are unable to provide the required EOI please visit the Proving your identity page or call 1300 135 513.
Agent Authority
You will need ‘Agent Authority’ if:
- an agent or representative is presenting on behalf of a:
- company, incorporated association, incorporated/Mutual enterprise or,
- an individual.

Registration Paperwork
- Passed Inspection report (AA or HV inspection) with the reverse application for registration completed
- proof of entitlement (sale receipt)
For Heavy vehicles (GVM over 4.5t)
- Heavy Vehicle (PDF 321.7 KB) or Trailer (PDF 475.0 KB) Classification Report
Fees and concessions
- Documentation required for Concession/rebate/exemptions (if applicable)
- Payment registration fees.
- Payment of Duty or Duty Exemption paperwork (if applicable)
