Existing Security Camera Systems

The only exception to this is for an Existing Security Camera System of a type approved under the Minimum Security Camera Specifications – Taxi Security Camera Systems – Tasmania v.2009-01 (Previous Security Camera System Specifications), and that approval has not been revoked by the Transport Commission.

If a taxi Security Camera System does not appear on the list of approved Existing Security Camera Systems provided below, then it must comply with the Security Camera Requirements 2023.

Any Existing Security Camera System must continue to remain compliant with the Previous Security Camera System Specifications. Where an Existing Security Camera System is no longer compliant with the Previous Security Camera System Specifications, it must be replaced.

Existing Security Camera Systems may be purchased new from a manufacturer or moved from one vehicle to another, provided they remain compliant with the relevant specifications and are of a type that continues to be approved by the Transport Commission.

The Transport Commission will periodically review Existing Security Camera Systems to determine whether or not they should continue to be approved.

Below is a list of Existing Security Camera Systems, approved by the Transport Commission under the Taxi and Hire Vehicle Industries Act 2008 in accordance with the Previous Security Camera System Specifications.

In addition to this list, any Security Camera System which complies with the Security Camera Requirements 2023 may be used.
